PostSubject: Re: 2014-M01 "Not So Shabby" Mystery Table Runner   2014-M01 "Not So Shabby" Mystery Table Runner - Page 2 EmptySat Feb 08, 2014 10:54 am

Lorna is the border fabric darker than the mild pink?
Don't forget, there is to be some appliqué using the darker border fabric and that will 'lift' the milder colours in the centre of the runner. It might surprise you yet? I'm glad you are enjoying it so far.

As for making it longer next time, you can make this one 12" longer now if you make 1 extra Unit 8 and 1 extra unit 10. The final top is revealed in today's email (Clue 4).

Also, there is nothing stopping you from putting your own spin on the colour scheme and introducing an extra colour or two for the appliqué?

And one more suggestion............ if 14" is too wide for you, leave the border off and just bind it in your chosen fabric. Eg, if you add a 1/2" binding the runner would measure:  13" x 37" (or 13" x 49" if you made it bigger by 12"?). Or if you like 1/4" bindings, reduce the previous measurements by 1/2" for the finished size of your runner.

Check your in-box everyone - I am about to send out the 4th clue.............

Can't wait to see the finished runners everyone!!! So.............

Check your in-box ladies........... I have sent you a little surprise!!!
 lol!
I am so excited that there is only one more clue to go and that you all seem to be enjoying the mystery that I decide to send the last piece of the mystery tonight and not tomorrow so you can get it done quicker if you want to.

I would appreciate any feedback you might have about the mystery and wonder if any of you might be willing to sign up for another one next month?

thanks Evelyn ... i got that one ... but possibly won't get anything finished till after the weekend ...

i will endeavour to have it done by Valentine's tho .. ok ... haha ..

i have enjoyed this one ... quick and simple and no fuss ... just like my housework skills .. haha ..

and yes .. i would be oh so very interested in another next month ... keeps me at the machine and with this and the BOM and maybe a mugrug ... i should be good ..

mind you ... i would probably really enjoy a bigger and longer one ... ... maybe over a few months ... and get a quilt from it .... i know that may be just a bit much for this sort of audience ... but that is what i would enjoy too ...

i will post a pic of mine so far ... (and i did have this pattern worked out about 2 o'clock this morning) ... just had to wait for the email to come thru to see if i was right .... yay me !!!! ...

yeah i know ... it really does not take too much to please me .... lol ..

Congratulations Bobbie, I just found your PM now.... sorry I missed it earlier.

I have been working on a larger one too Bobbie, but want to keep working on it a little bit longer before I present it. Will get back to you when I am done with that one later in the year........

Now Bobbie, what is the name of the design - anyone?

Just been to the gallery and it looks even better there!
Can't wait to see the border and applique etc all done.
I love it - not 'too pretty' at all for my liking.

Yes Bobbie. You are right on all counts and blocks can have more than one name.

The one I was hoping someone would post was the Plaited Block (identified by Maggie Malone as being one of Nancy Cabot's original designs).

I have also seen it called Love Knot.
If you know this block, then you will see that I simplified it so we didn't have to deal with so many small pieces..... got to love that ......... lots less cutting and sewing and you still get the same great pattern - right?

I was.... and you truly had me hook, line and sinker (for a bit) until ..........

I started to think about it and realised it is NOT Monday........ washing day is Monday (goodness knows when ironing day is - probably why mine is only seams that get done? ha ha),

and ........ baked goods? ... really? ..... now that would be the biggest one of them all and if that was true then there would be no room for your dinner I reckon after taste testing them of course to see they were up to muster .............. ha ha

Dinner I can believe cause it is dinner time here now too and all that being said ......... I will love and leave you for now and go sit up to the table and be waited upon by the OH.........and that IS true ........I kid you not! Would I ever lie to you???

my hubby cleaned my oven today ... and honest it took all day to do it ... it was possibly the worst mess i had ever seen in my life ...

it truly looked like they had used no baking dish at all and just put the meat to be roasted on the racks ...

i used that ammonia recipe from facebook .. and while it did work somewhat .. it did not shift it .. nor did the scourer ... he got in there with a paint scraper ... true ...

and then i sprayed it with my eucalyptus cleaner and that really shifted what was left ... but not without man arms and hands to do it ... i once was able to do a lot of things girls .. but these days i am just admitting that there are some things beyond me ... and taking to an oven with a paint scraper and chipping away all day is just way past what i am able to do ...

so glad he loves me ... and ... so glad he wants some pumpkin scones ... haha ... which will be on the menu possibly on wednesday as we are out tomorrow and tuesday ... medical crap ... and seeing a new doctor .. and then ... off to the beach unless it is pouring with rain ...

Thank you Helen for sharing photos of your finished runner in the gallery.
I hope you like the finished product and found the instructions easy to follow?
I like the way you have quilted it too!
I actually think you may be the first to totally complete the runner - congratulations!

I am hoping all who participated will share photos too when they are finished?

Here is a quick link to the mystery gallery so everyone can admire Helen's work:  (Oh, and Bobbie's too!!)
