| I will be back later today to post the fabrics required for a larger quilt for Karen's granddaughter. Still need to double check they are correct before posting here. | |

| when i send out any emails .. such as newsletters or to a group .. i just check a box that gives me the choice of a receipt for the email .. that way i know who has got it ... and generally everyone gets their mail ... those who don't and are expecting it will let you know soon enough that they have not got it yet ... i send out one email .. with a bcc to everyone ... easy peasy ... no fuss ....

| It is very strange though that everyone got my PMs but were blocked from replying....?
your id was ... i am guessing ... sending out an unusual amount of messages ... so it was ... (from what was explained to me)... the one that was 'in jeopardy of being hacked' ... so the programme isolated that id as 'suspect' .... so i would suggest that minimal contact be made via the PM's ...... as you now have the emails etc you wouldn't need to make as many PM's as that again anyway ...

Bobbie, what email service do you use to be able to choose a receipt? I used gmail (for the first time) to send a bulk email with BCC to all. I didn't see an option to let me choose a receipt, but then it was my first time so maybe I missed it? Any help here would be appreciated thanks.

I would like to make the quilt with 5 blocks across and 6 blocks down. I have 1 metre of the ponies fabric. Is that enough for the border? and I do have some stash to look through, pinks and purples? but I better get to the 6th birthday party, woops.
Sorry to take so long Karen, just needed to double check before posting here. The original mystery quilt has 16 blocks and finishes at 43" square. The following amounts will allow enough fabric in reserve to make a total of 30 blocks: Karen, for 30 blocks you would need: Fabric 1: Dark background: 1.6 mt Fabric 2: High contrast to background: 1 mt Fabric 3: Accent: (I split these amounts in case you want to use more than one colour from your stash?) for blocks: 50 cm for binding: 50 cm Peeper?: 25 cm Fabric 4: Ponies fabric: you have 1 mt and would only need 25" if you cut 5 x 5" strips for the border and your quilt would finish about 50" x 60". You have enough of the ponies fabric for the border, but not enough to do the border and accent blocks too! The ponies print size is a little large for the accent blocks and might get lost, but is perfect for the border. So............. Can I suggest you use the ponies for the border only, then choose 3 colours out of the pony fabric for the background, high contrast and accent fabrics to make the quilt top with? I will send you an email with the above so you can print it out. You will still get all the same instructions as everyone else for cutting and construction. Only difference will be, when we have finished the mystery, you will have to keep cutting and sewing the extra blocks needed. Check your email Karen..........

| evelyn ... i use incredimail .. it is a free programme and allows me to bring all my email into one place ... gmail .. bigpond .. yahoo ... windows live ... etc ... not hotmail i don't think ... but then i don't use hotmail .. it is too easy for spammers to attack them ...
i find it useful as i have all emails in one place on the computer .... and i don't have to go to the websites of any of them .... not even to empty the inboxes as incredimail allows you to do it from your computer with the settings ....
have used it for a long time now ... years and years ... lots of different letter styles and heaps of smilies ... and ecards for those birthdays you forget .. haha ...
it would have to be the easiest of all the email programmes out there ... and ... allows you to move emails to personalised folders too .... i just love it ....

| I have bigpond - yahoo - and hotmail and none of them get spammed.........
I am thinking of going onto Outlook if I can get it cheap enough but if not one of the other really good free ones.
My computer came home "fixed " he said - not so said I so he had to come and get it again and try to fix it but no so easy me thinks.
if you are getting spammed get the free Mailwasher - does wonders. Don't have it on the lap top but I do on this poor old thing....... But it is a very nice old thing - it works - takes some patting to get it going but at least I can get into some things.

| Thanks Bobbie............ that sounds exactly like what I have been looking for and for all the reasons you just gave too! Sorry to hear the PC is still 'unwell' Wendy. This one is still having hic-ups occasionally. I dusted the lap top off yesterday to give this one a break. I have a mini stand notebook cooler under my laptop to help keep it cool. Worked really well yesterday in all the heat. Bonus is it also lifts the laptop onto an angle that is more comfortable for me to use. I have Outlook on my pc but it looks and feels 'not right' to me after using Outlook Express for so long, and it doesn't have a return receipt either. I have a Kaspersky program to look after unwanteds. Seems to be working ok for me so far but will keep Mailwasher in mind, thanks Wendy. | |

| I have photographed my 3 fabrics and put them in the gallery, open to suggestions? The purple is showing much brighter than it is, it is acyually quite a deep purple and the bright pink is not so bright either. The contrast is a "matching" fabric to the Pony fabric (Sweet Pony). Michael Miller (Western Pink). | |

| oh mine boxes are no longer under the bed ... they now be under the stairs ... and the machine be set up on a table in the bus ... and all i need now is the other table put up so i can cut out my bits and pieces for the lotto blocks and the 'long awaited' mugrug ... which i guess has nothing to do with this mystery project ... but you all should know enough about me now to know i just jabber on anywhere about anything ... i am not too sure at this point if i have any really suitable fabrics in these here boxes ... and i do know that i would be getting into heaps of strife should i go and buy more ... so i reckon i will just have to make do with what i find .... and all else failing it could be a throw for when we are somewhere having a picnic | |

Do your fabrics read 1-3 from left to right?

| woops, forgot.... I had earlier had visions of using some fat quarters in similar colours instead of using just 3 fabrics........ until I found the ponies....... so it could work as a scrappy quilt maybe? Evelyn? Does that make sense? eg: so you have green, blue, red but enough different reds to make up the amount, enough blues, enough greens..... | |

| Hi girls, The next installment is the cutting instructions based on strips cut across the WOF. The calculations were based on 42" of usable fabric width.
Of course it is possible to make the quilt with FQs and scraps, but it might take a little more fabric than the table calls for.
And it can be made scrappy too with a few small cutting adjustments, but please keep in mind that fabrics 1 and 2 must be high contrast or the block design will be lost.
What about this suggestion Bobbie? Do you have 1 or more creamy tone on tone fabrics that could be used for the background, which would give the quilt a country look? Use all your greens for Contrast 2 (the more the merrier) and all your reds for the Accent fabric 3. Add a scrappy green border and use reds for the binding.
If this is what you want to do, let me know so I can make the necessary adjustments to the cutting table for you please?
Does anyone else need any help?

| I have another question ladies ....................
How do folks here prefer to handle their half square triangle construction? When making half square triangles that finish at 2½” square including seam allowance: Do you prefer to cut 2⅞” squares to make them with no trimming, or do you cut 3" squares, make the half square triangles then trim them back to 2½” squares including seams? I don't want to confuse anyone with the cutting instructions for HST squares.
