| Don't be too hasty in withdrawing Wendy...... The cutting instructions go out on Feb 1 and the sewing instructions will begin a week later so you have plenty of time to access those fabrics yet and keep up with the others. Yes thanks, link worked and I have found part of what I need. Still looking for another part to allow me to change my email address to the correct one to use. have printed some instructions to try when I have more time and patience! Ootlook is still a very different environment to OE but I will master it (well, master it enough anyway) to do what I want ............. eventually. Wendy, you didn't say if you had a preferred method for HST construction? Cut bigger and trim back or cut at the right size and no trimming back later? Would like all participants to comment on this too please? Don't forget, I don't know how experienced some are here and am open to suggestions as to which method to present and for what reasons please? | |

| i generally cut mine a little larger and then trim them back ... but i would make that decision myself rather than have the pattern changed .... can i suggest that the pattern remain correct and that a suggestion be made in here to add a bit if anyone has a problem with 1/4 inch seams .... if the pattern is altered then those who sew even seams will end up with oversized blocks ... i think it would be easier to leave the adding to the individual .... wendy ............. i make mine like this as a rule ... [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] ...... sometimes if the pattern is for a pinwheel this does not always work but as a rule it does .... | |

| ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Half Square Triangle .... in English .........
pmsl - why didn't you say so.
I agree - give it one way and one way only - and let the real quilters do it their way .... ha ha ha then there is me.
I might add if what you give has an acuquilt block I will do it that way - if not I will make it MILESsss bigger and trim to the right back.
Damned if I know who invented 1/4 inch when 1/2 inch is far more secure......... I can always trim back.
Looks like I will have to learnt sanequilterese.........

| sanequilters what ????? .... pmsl ... you are a funny lady wendy ..
and i think trimming back is optional for some and a must for me .... most of my HST come out looking very wavy .... someone told me once it is the way i iron them ... i reckon i am just too quick on the machine ... and not very straight to boot ...
but i get it done in the end ... but when trimmed and squared up ... i know it should fit better than unsquared ... and untrimmed ..... omg you should see some of the ones i make ... you would certainly get a good laugh out of them ....
sane quilters indeed ................. not here .....

| Thanks girls, that suits me just perfectly to give you the measurements to cut without trimming back and leave those who do.... to do what they usually do! If you know what I mean? haha Wendy do you have a 3" square in your acuquilt kit? If so, you can use that to cut the HSTs then you will be trimming back after construction to 2.5" squares. Maybe you have one of those too? This machine of yours is sounding better all the time!! Karen I have one of those seam rollers. Mine came in a kit for curved seams along with tweezers and a set of feet for curved seams from the same vendor at the stitches and craft show in Brisbane some years ago. I use mine all the time too! (Have not used the curved feet yet though!) At this time I am playing hookey!!From what you ask............? My sewing room!! I have been rummaging around in boxes trying to sort my stash in the hopes that I will find a couple of suitable sets of fabrics that go together for my samples and a quick quilt I need to make for an aunt and uncle's 60th wedding anniversary. There is fabric all over the ship and some I forgot I even had!!! Shopping for fabric in my stash is not fun.......... would be much quicker to visit spotlight!!! ha ha Especially as all I want to do is sew and I can't get to the machine until I put all this fabric back into their boxes!!!! I need HELP!!!!!! | |

| I have about 10 different blocks I think - you can go to the Acquilt site and see what is available.
I must make a note to make a list ...... ha a ha ha ha of what I do have. When I use the cutter I only make what fits the cutters and not the other way around .........
I am hoping my son will be able to shift this cupboard late Sunday. I heard him mumbling something about - you would think she would have got the spot right the first time.
So I rememnded him it's his fault - via his wife this is - that the 'little man' coming to measure the passage and the carpet in the front bedroom is wating for him to organise through his mate. .. lol live long enough to be a worry to your kids I say.
That little roller is a cutie Karen - I went and looked it up. I have been watching her days of January sale but when you add postage it doesn't make things as cheap as you think. A couple of other places I order from give free postage for larger sales...........

| Karen,
I use something like that on my Gelli plate and I doubt it would be heavy enough - and yours looks 100% stronger.

| Yes, maybe so. I am so happy with mine, I got it the last craft fair, can sit, sew, "press" seams without moving and without iron. No distortion either. | |

You got me at "Gelli plate' Wendy............. for fabric printing maybe? As for the little tool, it might work? You don't need too much pressure to press the seams open. But, the wooden ones we have are curved away at the middle, where you push it along the seams, to help open seams as you press. The other plastic one looks to have a flat roller surface? Thanks for the feedback regarding pattern instructions. Will keep them simple and streamlined. Please put your hand up if you need help along the way.

| Yes Evelyn,
Gelli plates are for printing, On paper or fabric - esp for fabrics like velvet and dupion. I have a small one and wish I had bought the bigger one but they aren't cheap..........
Not hard to google them. And their are simply the most amazing paints these days - seems like new ones every day. Most of them all work on fabric. But the matalics and perles are to die for - price wise too. lol
They make great tags etc. A bit like the old school oil paint on ware on paper idea. Icky me tried glass first but didn't work like the Gelli plate.

| Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
Firstly I have always had an auxilary fan on my computer in the heat - take it in the van for constant heat.
Nowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww Evelyn ............. ha ha ha ha ha
And a Gelli plate isn't just for fabric .......... and certainly not just for cotton.
You can use it on plastic bag button making, and recycled plastic bag string and fabric and printing on ribbons .......... ha ha ha I could fill a page ........ and not you know why I wish I had bought the big one Lots of fun with the heat gun and the iron too ............ lol
