The original pattern, which is what everyone is working of, said the background fabric is the darkest fabric. But for the rebels among us who chose a light fabric for their background because they were smart enough to shop from their own stash and not have to buy anything new, yes please - press the seams towards the background.

Sorry Karen about the repetition. Hope you are nearly there? Especially as you have lots of extras to make for the bigger size quilt.

Just wondering how Helen, Lorna and Jen are getting along with their fabric selections, cutting and HST construction? Any fabric pics to put in the gallery yet girls? Hoping you have been receiving your instructions ok too?

Don't worry Karen, you will easily catch up, especially as you don't have to trim any of your HST, and considering you are making twice as many as the rest of us for the larger quilt that is a good thing!!!

We already have one pic in the gallery of Lorna's HST, and such a lovely little design too! Looking forward to seeing yours too Bobbie when you are done trimming up.

Glad to know you got it ok and at least one of us is sewing a squillion cute little rectangles. If it is any help, you will only have half as many rectangles to sew as you had HSTs!

i am at alligator creek ....


am going to post some pics of my bits and pieces so far .... all sewn together .... i have 64 cute little rectangles and together on their own would make up a nice 'port and starboard' block ... but there are other patches that would go with these ... which i haven't worked out where they would be placed yet ... so i am supposing that ... port and starboard would not be the name of the block ...

that is the address they gave me......I haven't visited yet though.

it is only a small place and it is sort of cut into 2 sections ... we are in the southern part ...

so are you planning on visiting in the next month or so ... cause we could go out for coffee and visit spotlight if you were

this weeks hst's are sewn together i will try and post a pic later.

Bobbie I have just been to visit the gallery and WELL DONE!! The colour of your fabric is much better in this picture and I just know you will love the finished topper!!

Now about the name..................... 'Port and Starboard' block Bobbie? Did you get that from my 'plain sailing' comments?

Lorna your guess of "Oh my HST stars" brought tears to my eyes!

I can see you have both been thinking about it, and trying really hard but............No to both Lorna and Bobbie. You are getting closer though I can tell you that for sure!!! Hoping more of you will 'see' what it is soon and get posting too?

Now here is a really big hint for you two who have been really trying hard, (not for anyone else mind you, just for Bobbie and Lorna - ok? ha ha) And please don't forget, I did say it was only two words............ apart you will fail but, together you will triumph! (Have I said too much and given it away? ha ha)
