If we didn't have to eat we would all be rich Bobbie, LOL

I have cut a heap of fabric up for raggy quilts, just cannot decide what colours to use, it is for a girl, but I have pinks, brown, yellow, green, and a couple of patterns.

Linda what about letting the fabrics decide for themselves?

Chuck them all in a bag, mix them up and just do a lucky dip draw to see which one goes on the row next. Only rule is, chuck it back if it is the same colour as the last one added to the row.

OR........... have two bags to draw from, one with all your colours and the other with a blender? Every second patch added to the row could be a blender. Make your rows with an uneven number of patches for each row, eg 7 patches and each row beginning with a coloured patch and ending with a blender. Make the number of rows needed using all the same placement as above. 7 rows would produce a square quilt, or add more rows to make a rectangle quilt as needed.

Now lay the rows out to form the quilt.
The first row (end every odd numbered row there after) starts with a coloured patch and ends with the blender.
The second row (and every even numbered row there after) starts with a blender patch and ends with a coloured patch.

Don't worry too much initially when laying out the rows regarding the colour placement until you are finished. Then you can go back and change some of the rows to move like coloured patches further apart as desired.

Hope this gives you a couple of extra ideas to work with?

:flower:now that I have worked the pattern out it seems quite easy to do... I saw the graduating grey's in a book and thought Sara would like that for her new home but her boyfriend is calling it ''his ruggy'' for ''his new home''... and thank you Wendy............. I do have some blue's but I am not to sure about the choices I have made yet so I haven't started another yet plus I am giving my shoulder a rest from crocheting.

your 'his ruggy' is super T .... i love the greys ... so very effective ...

i have a small cot size one of these sort of almost finished ... it is white .. and i started it when we were in Hannaford ..... who knows ... i may finish it while traveling in the bus ... cos it is sort of compact and no fuss ..

mind you .. we have no more babies in this generation now ... but it could be a head start on the next gen ... omg .. i don't believe i just said that ... planning the next lot of babies ... haha .. but that lot will get to call me grandma ...
