this is a tutorial i found .. i want to make this one ..

this is a link to a tutorial of a quilt that i really love the idea of ... i plan to make it as we travel in our first year ... i think it would be a great keepsake for the kids .. maybe ... and i could do one a year for at least the first 6 years and then all of them would have one ...

just an idea .. maybe i will get bored with it after a year and not make any more .. but i do want to make at least one of them ...

Wow this is daunting but such a good idea. Mind you it would be a great way for a new mum to do the first year of her childs life. That would be the most amazing 21st present. All those memories made up and as a new gran or nana it could be made as a gift cause I bet all the nanas and grans out there would be on the phone each day to hear how the new little one is.

Now that is funny Miss Bobbie, I found that same site yesterday and really liked it. Oh if any of you got an email from saying I am in Spain Ignore it. I am in Canada. Problem is when you get it it goes out to all your contacts. I just say it for the first time a few minutes ago. but my phone started ringing about 6 hours ago telling me about it. I had just got out of bed when I got the first one, T and Lorna also emailed me about it. I am very sorry but I don't know where I got it from.

alot of that crap comes off facebook Ann ... a lot of people have been spammed with that crap ............. cos your email is kept there and so are a list of your friend's emails ... these people are getting more clever too ... where they can get inside your email account and find your contacts that way ... there is NO privacy left really when there are freaks like that out there ...

only takes you to click one link in any email for one of the 'special deals' .. be it a free phone or a trip to the moon .... that every man and his dog are giving away these days ... and boom .. it has your email and it does send to all you contacts ... ...

There are some nice little PDF tutorials here if any one is interested on Quilting Basics from cutting strips all the way through to making bias tape and binding the quilt. I particularly like Tutorial 2 on rotary cutting (left and right hand instructions), Tutorial 7 adding mitered borders, Tutorial 9 on joining double fold binding and Tutorial 10 making bias binding tape. All very handy to have in your kit.

I will go and look at them later thanks Evelyn. Although I have to say my acuquilt cuts strips and squares etc like a dream and ohhhh so quickly.

Lucky girl you to have an acuquilt. I still like cutting with the rotary cutter, ruler and self-healing mat although, I would like to see the acuquilt in action so I could compare the two. Hmmmmmmmmm maybe I will google it now? ha ha

It is good to see a tutorial that gives both left and right handed instructions for those of us who don't have acuquilt.

Ummmmmmmmmmmm time wise the acuquilt beats anything else hands down.

Great for running scraps through it to make squares for starers and enders.

I have ordered a log cabin block so that will be interesting to see how it works but again I am hoping to use up some fabric.

I have been thinking too about the acuquilt Wendy what size do you have? the last one I looked at was the Baby acuquilt as my hands are getting a little stiff these days using the rotary cutter is getting to be a problem As you say cutting up all your scraps is great Maybe I should look into buying one

Mine is the Go!!! Not the baby one. I got one when they had to be imported because you couldn't buy them here but don't think they have changed. Although I know the price has - dramatically. Much cheaper now.

I have looked at the Baby one at shows and for me I am really glad I have the Go - the middle one. But I think it is all a matter or money - and storage.

Val, can I suggest you go to a site called "cutting art" She sells them and is in Coburg. I see she had a free postage for Christmas that has probably stopped now. (she is on FB too)

But if you look there you can see which dies she sells and available in Australia, and which you can and can't use with the Baby one.

The site in US shows the same info but some of those dies you can't get here and are heavy and so expensive to get sent from the US.

There is no way you would go back to rotary cutter after using one and when you see squares popping out at a great rate, fabric is cut up in no time.

Thanks Wendy I will check that site out and have a wonder around have a think of whjat I can afford and as you say storage thats another thing to look at

I would love to hear more about your Go machine Wendy. Have looked at the site you mentioned and have yet to look on you tube for instructions video - waiting on more bandwidth to do that.... soon though.

Is this machine only for cutting your fabric scraps into usable pieces or can it cut yardage as well?
